The Stone (Staffs) & District U3A was formed in November 2005 and is affiliated to the Third Age Trust, the UK national organisation.
Membership
is available to those who are retired or
not in full time employment. No qualifications are needed and none are awarded,
so members can enjoy educational, recreational or creative activities in an
informal and friendly atmosphere.
The organisation is run by a Management Committee of volunteers, elected at the Annual General Meeting. Group Leaders are also volunteers who give their services to pass on their skills for the benefit of others.
Nationally U3As offer a combination of opportunities for learning, creativity,
socialising and, in general, developing a fitter mind and body.
U3A
is the only national education organisation in the UK run entirely by its own
members, all of whom are unpaid volunteers.
Most activities take place Monday-Friday 9 am - 5 pm. Membership of the
Stone & District U3A
currently costs £8 per annum (which includes delivery of the National Magazine) plus
a fee, generally £1,
per session attended.
A Stone U3A Newsletter is distributed bi-monthly.
New members may enrol on their first attendance at their chosen group, subject
to the group having vacancies, or by contacting the membership secretary.

We
always need more Group Leaders to extend our range of activities and broaden our
appeal.
